“Stuff”

January 7, 2010

On my email account there’s a place within the Inbox section that allows me to save ‘stuff’….and all the stuff I decide to save has to have a title. So being the victim of ‘stuff’ addiction….I gave the collection the title “things I just couldn’t delete”. What’s funny to me about this group is that I have absolutely no idea what I have saved….that is….until I open up the “things I just couldn’t delete” and see what’s in there. So not only do I have the habit of saving stuff at home, at work, in my car, in my purse, now it’s in my INBOX. It amazes me how easy it is to collect stuff in my life and my heart and my mind that I SO wish to clean out.

Either I read somewhere…or was told…that everything we see with our eyes is forever in our minds. But I believe that God refutes that statement with His power to forgive and erase and renew! He helps us keep our inbox – our heart and mind – cleaned out and ready for His ‘stuff’. I’ve chosen a scripture to cling to throughout this year that I know God will bring to my mind at the right time and in the appropriate situation and circumstances. He is the one Who helps me keep my life pointed in the right direction…i.e. right at HIM. Philippians 3:13 … Paul is saying…”brethern, I do not regard myself as having laid hold if it yet; but ONE thing I do: forgetting what lies behind (for me, all the stuff that clutters my heart, blocks my vision of Him, robs my joy) and reaching forward to what lies ahead” (His perfect plan and will for my life) verse 14: “I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” (Heather, thanks for this one…they just go together!) So as I get rid of the stuff in my life that hinders me from reaching forward…I gladly anticipate what God will put into my “inbox”. As we search His Word, seek His face, walk with His Son, Jesus Christ, may 2010 be the best year we’ve ever lived – for His glory, “forget what lies behind” “reach forward to what lies ahead” “press on toward the goal” God’s call is indeed a prize! Happy Joyous 2010!
